Building Code ("we", "us", "our") provides website design, hosting and maintenance services to New Zealand trade businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
When you fill in one of our forms (for example a Meta/Facebook lead form, or the quiz or enquiry form on our website), we may collect:
- Your name
- Your business name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- Any information you choose to give us about your current website, hosting or maintenance arrangements
We do not collect payment information, and we do not collect any information beyond what you provide in the form.
Why we collect it
We collect this information for one purpose: to contact you about your free website mock-up, and to discuss whether switching your website hosting and maintenance to Building Code could save you money or bring in more leads.
We will not use your information for anything else without asking you first. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.
How we contact you
We may contact you by phone, email or text message about your mock-up and our hosting and maintenance services. If you tell us you are not interested, we will stop contacting you.
How your information is held
Your information is stored securely with the third-party services we use to run our business, which may include:
- Meta Platforms (if you submitted a lead form on Facebook or Instagram)
- Web3Forms and Vercel (if you submitted a form on our website)
- Our business email and records
These providers may store information on servers located outside New Zealand. We only use reputable providers, but where information is held overseas it may be subject to the laws of those countries.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we limit access to it to people who need it to contact you.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purpose above. If you tell us you are not interested we will delete your details from our records.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct any information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
To do any of these, just get in touch using the details below. We will respond within 20 working days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will do our best to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.
